EN 50128, EN 50129, SIRF, CSM, ...
Based on the international standard IEC 61508, the special standards EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129, among others, have been developed.
For the licensing process of machinery within the German railway grid, the Federal Railway Authority has implemented the “Safety Directive Rolling Stock” (SIRF) which has to be observed in the development of systems and components.
This in turn refers to parts of IEC 50128 for software, IEC 61508 for hardware and the Common Safety Methods (CSM-VO) for the assessment of risks of a new or changed vehicular function.
Where a safety-related function, e.g. in a locomotive or a regional train is to be implemented, not only current standards, directives and regulations have the to be taken into account , but also operational conditions as well as the idiosyncrasies of the Bundesländer.
